- Tried -20 pad and safety channel when operating plugged in and going to the camera, but it doesn’t fix the issue.
- Took Curtis Judd’s course on Izotope RX
- Learned a ton
- Especially about module chains and the Phase plugin
- That you need to adjust LUFS by 3 when working with mono files
- Increased Rode Videomic NTG gain level to 15 and reduced the ZV-E10 level to 4 (from 6)
- Started setting up my audio processing workflow in Izotope RX
2023-01-26 Tweaked the setup angle a bit more based on these two videos:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VTtIRpsGXU 2023-01-20 Tweaked the Microphone setup after watching the latest video and comparing it to some past videos
- I found I was able to optimize the audio output by shooting for input level where my vocals are around -12db and trying not to peak any higher than -8
- I was able to achieve this with minimal echo and background noise with a Rode Videomic NTG input level of 10.5 and a Sony ZV-E10 Audio Recording Level of 10
- I learned that you’re shooting for an output when compressed around -3db
- Then output with normalization for about -17LUFS
- Our goal is to leave 1.5db of true peak headroom because lossy formats eat up some of that.
- When using a compressor:
- set the attack to as fast as it will go.
- The release to 500ms
- The ratio to 3:1
- The Threshold probably around -10
- The makeup / gain to taste
- Here’s my compressor setup for this situation
