YouTube Intro should be between 10 and 45 seconds
Reiterate the Title in the first 5 seconds to minimize drop off
- Ideally the image from the intro matches that of the thumbnail (perhaps don’t start with my headshot?)
The most successful videos exceed the title and thumbnail’s expectations
Create Curiosity Gaps to keep people watching
Provide Context so that everyone can participate even if they’re not an expert (I may have butchered this one)
Leverage Input Bias by communicating how much effort and time you put into the video so that the viewer will value the video.
Show people, don’t tell them. Give an intro that creates interest even if there isn’t audio. Frontload Stimulus. Many successful YouTubers change their intro visuals more than once every 2 seconds.
