Brandon’s Thoughts:
- Capture everything so that you can focus on the task at hand
- Capture everywhere
- Drain the Inbox regularly
- Don’t do everything
- Choose the right mix of the things
- Managing tasks should be fast and frictionless
- Seeing everything on your plate can be overwhelming
- Use your low-energy time for planning
- High energy time for doing
- Avoid your To-Do list in the morning
- Set an intention the night before, somewhere visible. For me, a pink sticky note and Sharpie on my bedside table. Set the intention and stick to it. If you don’t like it, you can always change tomorrow’s.
- Assume everything will take twice as long as you think it will
Plan based on your energy. If I break down tasks based on the mental energy required, this gets much simpler. Here are some examples:
High Energy Tasks
For me, these are:
- Problem-Solving
- Product Design
- Creative Writing
