We are blind to the quality our own performance (in the moment).

While actively creating, we are pre-occupied with the act of creating. We are also personally invested in our own performance.

Time and distance can help us better gauge the quality of a given body of work. Because we are poor judges in the moment, it is important that we create a system and buffer time to review our past work. Firstly, because we will realize aspects about our performance that we were blind to during the performance. If we never review our past thoughts, we may miss out on this introspection and the opportunity to grow from it. Secondly, this is also an opportunity to see how far we’ve come. Progress is often invisible during the act
