A startup like division within a stable and reasonably large company. Apparently Lockheed Martin has either the original or an otherwise well known one of these.
What other large companies have skunkworks divisions?
This can be an interesting alternative to working in another startup where the risk can be high. The odds of a company with a skunkworks division going out of business are fairly low, the larger risk is the division going away.
