On my way back to the Airport when leaving Phoenix I had a Lyft driver pick me up in a black Buick. Along the ride thanked me for taking him to work. At first I thought he was saying thank you for getting him paid to drive, but I later learned that he is an Aircraft Mechanic who works at the airport and picks up people on his way to work and his way home from work. This lets him take the HOV lanes which save a ton of time in traffic, not to mention he makes a bit of money and gets to meet interesting people. I enjoyed meeting Steve and learning about his time in the Navy.
